Description:
This book jacket was designed to emphasis type as the primary design element. Using type is an interesting method for design as the limitations of the shapes for each letter can bring imaginative results when played around with. The overall feel that I was going with for this particular design was to encompass a dystopian, industrial feel with having the letters simulate rusted metal piping.
The colors used were inspired by the events and locations of the book, Dune, where the majority of the story takes place on a fictional desert planet, Arrakis, harkening to the warm earth tones of brown, yellow, and orange. The inclusion of bright blue lines were to represent the bright blue color that characters who ingest Spice, the fictional drug in Dune, have their eyes take after ingestion.
